So your dog doesn’t listen to you – you want him to stop barking incessantly, but he keeps on yapping at all hours of the day, or maybe he jumps at other people or dogs and embarasses you. A citronella collar works on four sensory levels: touch, sound, smell and sight. First, you need to put the collar on the dog, making sure it is comfortable and positioned correctly. When the dog starts barking, the spray gets triggered. The dog will hear it and then see the spray of citronella mist, will feel it on its snout and the worst of all, the strong scent will linger in his delicate nostrils. All this startles the dog, stopping him from whatever he is doing. Later on he will start to understand the relationship between the spray and his behavior. Dog Obedience Training Means, Happy Dog, and Happy Family!

Sunday, January 29th, 2012

Some people may see dog obedience training as something that is not needed. However, the truth is if more dogs had obedience training there would probably be less displaced dogs in the world. There are several reasons why obedience training would benefit both dog and owners alike. Dogs that go through an obedience training will be a more controlled pet, in turn getting a more loving pet owner. Pet owners have to remember it is not something that is done overnight.

Pet owners and pets alike can learn many new things in an obedience course or class. After you go home though you will have to continue to do the things you have learned. Of course it is great to treat your pet like a family member but just like any other human being, or pet they still need to be shown how to do things, and that is what they look at their owner to do. By taking the classes they will show you the proper way of doing things, and explain to you as to why you have to do them. So if things are done properly, there should be no bad behavior later. Hence, no bad behavior on either end equals a loving pet and owner relationship in the end.

Chicken Coops for Sale: Made by a Doctor!

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

When my son first informed us that his new business was named “Chicken Coops for Sale” we all thought he was kidding. My son is a doctor by profession so it was quite a shock for us when he said that he decided to put up the chicken coop business as a hobby.

My son explained to us that building a chicken coop is very easy and relaxing for him. He says that whether we believe it or not, he has many friends who order chicken coops from him for their own backyard farms. He further explained that nowadays, people are looking to going back to nature, to a simple way of living in order to get some peace of mind and relax. E is nothing more wonderful than eating your own organic-grown chickens. However the dilemma is, if you get emotionally attached to your chickens, you might end up not eating them.

Nonetheless, he says that taking care of chickens is really a great way to release stress and he isn’t get tired of looking at them the whole day. To date, my son says that in a weekly basis, he gets orders of about five chicken coops on the average.

A Holiday in the Countryside

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

After a gruelling year filled with challenges, a holiday with my friends was way overdue. The only stipulation I needed to consider was that my friend’s daughter would have to accompany us, and with her daughter, comes her daughter’s pet rat, “Guyver.” As much as I love pets, the idea of chasing a rat through the passageways of a hotel did not appeal to me. In addition, all the destinations I called had strict policies where pets of any kind were not allowed. Then I did an internet search for a, “pet friendly cottage,” near the countryside and found exactly what I was looking for. The cottage sleeps six people and provides all the luxury and comfort that makes for a memorable vacation. We are all excited, including my friend’s daughter who has vowed to keep, “Guyver,” in his cage and let him roam around in his roller-ball only while being supervised. How delightfully cute

Miniature Pigs Make Great Pets

Friday, December 23rd, 2011

Miniature pigs are a family friendly solution to farm pigs. These cute pigs were introduced to America around 1980. They were used for medical research including toxicology, pharmacology and aging. As they gained popularity they were viewed more as pets than research animals. These cute animals come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The color and weight of each pig depends on the breed. For example, Vietnamese Potbellied Pigs are considered the most popular pigs to breed. They have an excellent temperament, weigh about 50 pounds, and average 14 inches long.

This is one of the larger miniature pigs. Although, their counterpart the farm pig is extremely dirty, the miniature pig are extremely clean and can be house trained. Unfortunately, these animals are often neglected due to the fact that handling them is not always clear. Prices vary for the animal and ranges anywhere from $800-$4500. It is money well spent for such a cute trustworthy animal.

Parrot Care for Small Birds

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

Blue fronted amazon parrotWhen it comes to parrot care, there are a lot of misconceptions out there especially when it comes to the smaller birds. Birds like budgies and cockatiels still need the same amount of care as an Amazon parrot. One important thing to keep in mind for any bird is to make sure you get the proper cage. This is actually easier for smaller birds as well as less expensive because smaller birds can live in a smaller cage. Either way you want to make sure they can stretch out their wings without batting them against the sides. Bird food is another critical aspect of caring for your small parrot. You want to make sure that you get a good mixture of seeds as well as fruits and vegetables. Finally, you want to be sure that you have plenty of social time with your bird because birds are social creatures and they will want to spend a lot of time hanging around outside of their cage with you and your family.

Naming Our English Setter

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

I’ve been looking for a list of Male Dog Names because we will be picking up our new puppy next week. Last week we sat down as a family and talked about getting a puppy and decided to do just that, so next week our new little English Setter will join our household.

Why did we decide on an English Setter? Well for starters, we are English thus it made perfect sense to us to get an English dog. If that is not enough of a reason, these dogs are great with children, love to play and run around, and are very trainable.

English Setters grow to a height between 24 and 27 inches at the shoulders and can grow to a weight of 80 pounds. They are also very good with cats, which is a good thing for us as we have four kitties. Now we just need to think of a name for our pup.

Grains Don’t Belong in Dog Food

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

Also, she’s a little canine and the kibble bits are simple for her to chew. This is actually the very best pet food from the very best dog food supplier. I’ve been using this food for four years since I read raving critiques on numerous websites. I believe for the money and the quality this is a great pet food option. One of my canines had irritable bowel syndrome which we tried to deal with with food from the vet, uncooked food, and every type of pet food in a pet shop. Since she’s only ten pounds the price difference is not bad. Jetta and I are both happy with Canidae from our dog food supplier! Changing the rating, I am still unclear about the email. I was extremely, extremely disappointed to find out that the chicken isn’t organic, but from a pet food dispenser. It’s $1.76 per pound for the Newman’s Own pet food from the dog food supplier.
